City Chicks 4 Charity hosted their very first event at Discovery Wines on Avenue A and First Street. We had an abundance of food including cheese plates, a delicious spinach dip (thanks Reesh!) and lots more yummyness to pair with our wines.
We began with a delectable Cristalino Cava Prosecco, which we loved (and asked for more)! We then moved onto a Chateau Laulerie which was another fan favorite. It is made of sauvignon blanc and semillon, and displays ripe citrus fruit with grassy notes. We also tasted some reds and the Montepulicano was a big hit. It was great to see new faces and to spread the word about CC4C.
Once we all had a few glasses, it was time for the raffle. Alicia designed a gift basket filled with beauty samples and other goodies. Kristen channeled Vanna White by choosing a business card from the jar. After the winner was crowned, it was back to more tasting and the conclusion of our first triumphant event!
The money we raised is being donated to the Mirwais School Fund, benefiting Afghan Girls scarred by acid to keep them home and uneducated. We’re hoping our donation makes a difference.
We’d like to thank Discovery Wines for hosting this amazing event. Thanks to Scott, Nicole and Tim for all the great wine and cheese! We must also give a shout out to Nolan, from Crumbs Bakery, who attended and provided the amazing mini cupcakes for dessert.
We hope to see you at our next event!!

If you were told you were going to Staten Island from Manhattan on an early Saturday morning, would you be excited? Probably not. If you knew by making this trip you would be helping the enviornment, would it be worth it? YES! Well that’s just what one of the City Chicks did…
Along with the Advertising Club, one of the City Chicks and her posse traveled to Staten Island to help the NY Cares Organization to plant trees. She got down and dirty with a shovel and gloves! After an awkward t-shirt tan and a lot of sweat, over 2,000 trees were planted in hopes to help the environment and… maybe spruce up Staten Island’s highway a little!

DATE: Saturday, May 2nd, 2009
TIME: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
LOCATION: The Children’s Aid Society
One rainy Saturday morning a bunch of Chicks met up in Harlem to spend the day with 75 amazing youngsters from the Children’s Aid Society as we celebrated the artist within! Through a fun-filled, interactive workshop, we and our buddies explored what it‘s like to be a fashion and jewelry designer, architect, sculptor and more. A little paint on our forearms, a little glue in our hair and a little glitter on our jeans, we were all smiles as we chatted and connected with our new little friends.
The hardest part of the day…wasn’t getting uptown at 9am on Saturday, wasn’t spending 5hrs in a gymnasium…it was saying goodbye to these remarkable little kids turned artists.
Thank you to Sarah Sabourin, the program Director for all her hard work in organizing these fantastic events and thanks to all the City Chicks for giving of themselves and their free time yet again – you girls rock!

Getting started...
When: Sat, April 25th, 2009 - 9am – 1pm
Where: The Bronz Zoo
Why: Save the Gorillas!!
Ok so it was not so much of a Run For The Wild for us City Chicks as it was a steady Jog For The Wild. Amongst the estimated 3,000 plus participants were a couple of City Chicks lending their support to save the Congo and our beloved friends the Gorillas who are unfortunately endanger of becoming extinct. With a sweaty yet rewarding mile three behind us, we crossed the finish line with joy in our hearts and only one question on our minds.. where to for brunch ladies.. early AM fast walking takes a lot out of a Chick!

Home stretch!
CC4C doubled it’s fundraising goal and The Bronx Zoo Run For The Wild raised over $90,000, thanks to charitable donations such as yours. To learn more about how you can help ensure the preservation on the Gorillas and many other of our furry, scaly and/or feathered friends log onto http://www.wcs.org/getinvolved/donations

...and we made it!

WHERE: 527 W27th – Pink Elephant NYC
WHEN: April 23rd, 8 – 11PM
CAUSE: We’ve all heard about it- Global Warming. Now let’s do something
about it. RJETS will be donating all profits to Carbon Offset Programs.
On the first chilly spring night, 13 city chicks stepped out in style to support the fight against global warming. Clad in little dresses and the most fabulous of heels, we posed for pics on the red carpet and strutted to our table, the purchase of which raised more than $600 for carbon offset programs. No strangers to banquets, bottles, and cute guys in suits, this benefit proved to be something special. In this “green” age where recycling is second nature, we think to turn off our lights, and always have our reusable market bags in hand, it was amazing to see the Elephant packed with twenty-somethings bonded together for a cause so dear to our hearts. With glaciers melting, ecosystems disappearing, and the horrible truth that there is an ocean garbage dump the size of Texas off the shore of California, we need to stop, think and reduce our carbon footprint. Now.
The night flew by… groups huddled around tables, chicks sipping and dancing to Mo-town turned MIA and endless laughter filling the air. We want to thank our dear friend RJ and his brother Ronnie who put on such a fabulous event that will be talked about for weeks to come. For more information on these awesome guys and their private jet company go to www.jettheworld.com.
We hope to see you all at our next event!
